IS YOUR PRIVACY STILL POSSIBLE IN THE AGE OF THE INTERNET?


Although privacy is the most valuable aspect to every individual, it is now almost a thing of the past with the growth of internet. In as much as internet enable users to share or store their information online, many users are not aware of how their privacy is getting exposed. For instance, when you go to the hospital, your health information is added to your electronic health records. As you climb your education ladder, every information regarding your education is added to your electronic records. Needless to mention, every employee details in any company alongside their financial records are kept in computer devices.

In addition to that, it is now the habit of almost every individual to take pictures and share them online. When you share your pictures in social media, you do not have an idea who or how many people end up with a copy of those pictures. The copies of the photographs you shared are now online in other devices other than your own. Your followers in social media may download those photos to their electronic devices. They then share those pictures publicly and more people end up having copies too. Since the pictures were shared online, they end up on several servers in the world. Obviously, the original pictures are not found on your electronic devices only.
Clearly, the above information define you. It is crystal clear that your privacy is no longer served. Surprisingly, many citizens rely on the different laws and regulations that are set up by their governments to protect their privacy and information. However, do they or their governments have an idea where their information is or who has them? Absolutely not.
Furthermore, besides individuals exposing their privacy unknowingly, technology is growing rapidly and so the way information is accessed and stored is changing. Just when you have found a solution to issues regarding privacy, there are hackers on the other side figuring out how to creep into your privacy. In most instances, it is definite you have to be a step ahead of the hackers. You have to highly invest in privacy like in order to find the best course of action against perpetrators of cyber-crimes. This is another difficult challenge on its own that can take a lot of resources in terms of time and money to cab depending on the aspect of privacy you want to protect.

Drawing from the above analogy, privacy in this internet age is fading like darkness during dawn. Electronic devices are not just meant to store to store information. They are portal to crucial information and they easily generate any details. Besides enabling people to easily access their information, these computing devices also generate private data about you. With all this information about individual, government or organizations available online, privacy is lost and information has become profitable to hackers. Privacy is no longer possible in this advent age of constantly evolving technology and internet. It is now a luxury enjoyed by very few individual who can afford to secure their information.
